India will square off against Sri Lanka in the second T20I today at 7 pm at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. Hardik Pandya-led side has been dealt with a massive blow ahead of the series decider. One of the star Indian batters Sanju Samson has reportedly stayed back in Mumbai for scans after picking up an injury during the first T20I match.

Samson had a disappointing outing at Wankhede Stadium, failing to contribute significantly with the bat. A risky shot against Dhananjaya de Silva resulted in him being sent back for only 5 runs. Despite his obvious skill and brilliance, Samson's tendency to pick the wrong shots continues to be a weakness. Furthermore, during the nail-biting contest between the two Asian rivals, the 28-year-old let a chance slip by dropping Pathum Nissanka.

Reports indicate that the middle-order specialist didn't accompany the team to Pune. There are doubts about his participation in the series finale because of a knee niggle he picked up while attempting a diving catch in the very first over. Even though he experienced swelling and was told to see a doctor, Samson played through the discomfort for the sake of the team.

Rahul Tripathi, known for his aggressive style, could make his international debut as a replacement for Samson. Additionally, the return of Arshdeep Singh, who was absent from the first game, presents the team management with some tricky selection choices.
