Thanks to a standout display by Suryakumar Yadav, India beat Hong Kong to guarantee their progression to the Super Fours

India secured their Super Fours qualification with a 40-run win over Hong Kong in the league's closing match. Hong Kong reached 152/5 in their 20 overs, failing to hit the 193-run target despite a top score of 41 from Babar Hayat. They started competitively, but a lack of late-game acceleration and a few key wickets hampered their progress. Although the Indian pace attack was shaky at first, the spin bowlers stepped up to shut down the chase.
India beat Hong Kong by 40-runs in the final league match to qualify for the Super Fours. Chasing a big target of 193, Hong Kong managed to score 152/5 in 20 overs. Babar Hayat top-scored with a knock of 41 runs. Hong Kong gave a good fight at the top but failed to score quick runs towards the end as they lost a few wickets. Though the Indian pacers faltered at the start, Indian spinners came into the picture as Hong Kong chase lost steam.

After being asked to bat first, the Indian openers, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, got the scoreboard moving quickly. However, Rohit was dismissed for 21 before he could make a significant impact. KL Rahul then joined forces with Virat Kohli, and the pair played with great elegance to put on 58 runs for the second wicket.

KL Rahul's contribution ended at 36 from 39 balls, but Virat Kohli remained not out on 59. The game was truly shifted by Suryakumar Yadav, who smashed a remarkable 68 runs off only 26 balls. His innings was a masterclass in aggression, featuring six fours and six sixes at a strike rate of 261.53. Together, Kohli and Yadav added 98 runs in just 42 balls, finishing with a strong total of 192/2.

During the chase, Hong Kong suffered an early blow when Yasim Murtaza was out for 9. Babar Hayat attempted to keep the game alive with several boundaries and sixes, but India's ability to take wickets at pivotal moments kept the pressure on. Despite useful contributions of 30 from Kinchit Shah and 26 from Zeeshan Ali, it wasn't enough to bridge the gap to the target.
