Indian batting star Smriti Mandhana believes that RCB is now better equipped to compete and fulfill its promise. The team struggled significantly during the first season; even with a powerhouse lineup including Mandhana herself, Ellyse Perry, and Sophie Devine, they couldn't secure consistent wins. With only two victories in their first eight matches, they failed to make the playoff cut.
Mandhana, who captains RCB, admitted her desire for a stronger comeback this year. She explained that the team underwent a strategic overhaul, letting go of some players to bring in new ones, which has noticeably improved the team's overall balance. She also highlighted how the domestic circuit allowed her to sharpen her skills and study opponents she hadn't encountered before.
Reflecting on the previous year, Mandhana noted that the team had almost no time to bond, joining up just two days before the start, which left them unfamiliar with most of their teammates. This year, the focus has been on understanding each player's strengths and weaknesses to improve coordination. She expressed confidence in their batting depth and the team's collective drive to succeed. RCB's first challenge will be against the Warriorz this Saturday, February 24.
