The Indian National Cricket Team is providing crucial support to Cricket Australia's efforts to restart the game post-pandemic. The upcoming October tour will consist of a bilateral series covering Test, ODI, and T20I formats, with a brief intermission for the ICC T20 World Cup before the tour continues.
A senior official from the BCCI has confirmed that Indian players must spend roughly two weeks in self-isolation before their Australian journey. The global devastation caused by COVID-19 has hit the sports industry hard, leading to widespread cancellations. Consequently, there is a strong push to bring the game back, with Cricket Australia prioritizing the Indian tour as a starting point.
In interviews with the Age and the Sydney Morning Herald, BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal clarified that every member of the Indian squad would adhere to a two-week isolation period if mandated. Since these are standard entry requirements for Australia, the BCCI could have opted to delay the trip; however, the board seems determined to move forward with the highly anticipated Test series.
As per the norms, those travelling to Australia need to enter isolation for 2 weeks. This might have seen BCCI postponing the tour but seems like the board is additionally willing to play the much-awaited Test series.
