Kolkata Knight Riders dominated Delhi Capitals at Eden Gardens, winning by 7 wickets thanks to a lethal spin attack and aggressive batting. Chasing 154, Phil Salt played a blistering knock of 68 runs from 23 balls, hitting 5 sixes and 7 fours. In doing so, Salt set a new personal and team milestone, scoring a record-breaking 343 runs for KKR at their home ground within a single IPL season.
Attacking spin bowling and commanding batting performance helped Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to overpower Delhi Capitals (DC) by 7 wickets at the Eden Gardens. Chasing 154, KKR opener Phil Salt continued his onslaught, scoring a 23-ball 68, smashing 7 fours and 5 sixes. Salt, meanwhile, set a record during his valiant knock, scoring the highest number of runs (343) for KKR at Eden Gardens in a single IPL season.
The game began with a strategic error by Rishabh Pant, whose choice to bat first backfired as DC lost three key wickets in the powerplay. Prithvi Shaw (13) and Shai Hope (6) were sent back by Vaibhav Arora, while Mitchell Starc dismissed the explosive Jake Fraser-McGurk for 12. Abishek Porel (18) added to the misery after a failed attempt at an innovative stroke. From that point on, Varun Chakaravarthy took complete control, using his spin to stifle and confuse the Delhi batters.
Chakaravarthy struck a major blow by dismissing Pant (27) and then eliminated Tristan Stubbs (4) before he could make an impact. While the wickets tumbled, Kuldeep Yadav fought a lone battle with a vital 35 to ensure DC had a competitive score to defend. The bowling effort was headlined by Chakaravarthy's three wickets, with Arora and Harshit Rana contributing two each to limit DC to 153/9.
Phil Salt ignited the chase for KKR, leaving the DC bowlers with few answers as he dominated the field. He was supported by modest contributions of 15 from Sunil Narine and 11 from Rinku Singh. Once Salt had put KKR firmly in the driver's seat, he made way for Shreyas Iyer (33) and Venkatesh Iyer (26). The pair shared a steady 57-run stand, guiding KKR to victory with 21 balls remaining.
