Wasim Jaffer, a veteran of the Indian Test scene, recently faced the challenging task of picking the best white-ball player in Indian history. Given the choice between the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, the prolific Virat Kohli, and the explosive Rohit Sharma, Jaffer decisively opted for Kohli. It was a tough call considering the pedigree involved: Jaffer is a domestic cricket icon, while Sachin is viewed worldwide as the ultimate authority in batting. Kohli is currently the frontrunner to break Sachin's legendary ODI records, having already secured 43 centuries in 248 innings. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma holds the unique distinction of three ODI double centuries and recently dominated the last World Cup by scoring a record five centuries in one tournament.
Sachin is known worldwide as the god of cricket with him having every possible batting record to his name. Kohli on the other hand is considered as one of the top horses to go past Sachin’s mammoth milestone in ODI. Kohli has registered a staggering 43 ODI centuries from just 248 ODIs. Whereas Rohit Sharma is the only player in the history of cricket to have scored a total of three double centuries in ODI games. In last year’s World Cup, he created another record of scoring the most centuries (5) in a single edition of the tournament.
Throughout his international career, Jaffer played 31 Tests for India, accumulating 1944 runs. During the conversation, he also highlighted Virender Sehwag as his favorite batting partner and Sourav Ganguly as his preferred captain. Having recently been appointed as the head coach for the Uttarakhand Ranji team for the upcoming season, Jaffer ended the interview expressing his excitement for this new chapter in his coaching career.
