In a third-round EFL Cup clash at Carrow Road, Liverpool comfortably beat Norwich City 3-0. This dominant display ensured the Reds' passage to the next stage of the competition, with Takumi Minamino scoring twice and Divock Origi adding a third.
The intensity was high from both sides, but Norwich struggled to convert their chances, seeing all five of their shots on target saved. Liverpool managed the tempo with 54% possession and struck early; in the 4th minute, Minamino capitalized on a corner from Tsimikas. After Origi nodded the ball down, Minamino reacted sharply to fire a close-range shot past Angus Gunn.
Liverpool maintained an aggressive approach, consistently carving out scoring opportunities. Tsimikas nearly added another with a powerful header that narrowly cleared the crossbar. Meanwhile, Caoimhin Kelleher was outstanding in goal, keeping the hosts at bay. Norwich did get a golden opportunity when the referee pointed to the spot after Bradley fouled Dimitris Giannoulis in the penalty area. However, Christos Tzolis' central penalty was smartly blocked by Kelleher's foot.
Having entered the break with the lead, Liverpool doubled their advantage just five minutes into the second half. The play developed quickly as Curtis Jones drove forward and found Tsimikas, who delivered a pinpoint cross from the byline for Origi to head accurately into the far corner.
The Reds stayed in control until the final whistle. In the 80th minute, Minamino sealed the 3-0 win; the goal was set up by a strong challenge from Bradley to win the ball high up the pitch, followed by a precise pass from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain that Minamino finished low past Gunn.
