Both Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth have successfully advanced to the following round at the Orleans Masters

Saina Nehwal started her journey at the Orleans Masters on a high note, convincingly defeating Ireland's Rachael Darragh 21-9, 21-5 in the women's singles opener. These points are vital for Saina as she pushes for qualification for her fourth Olympic Games. She is now preparing to face Marie Batomene from France, returning to form after a thigh injury sidelined her from the All England Open just a week ago.

India's top-ranked male player and the tournament's number one seed, Kidambi Srikanth, has moved through to the third round after a 21-15, 21-10 victory over fellow Indian Ajay Jayaram.

In the mixed doubles event, the Indian pair of Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N Sikki Reddy cruised past Austria's Dominik Stipsits and Serena Au Yeong with a 21-7, 21-18 win. Their next opponents will be the Danish duo Niclas Nohr and Amalie Magelund.

Ira Sharma secured a hard-fought and well-earned victory in the women's singles, overcoming France's Leonice Huet with a final score of 12-21, 21-14, 21-17.

Tuesday brought mixed results for India: Kiran George pulled off a stunning upset against the Netherlands' Mark Caljouw in a nail-biting match that ended 13-21, 21-18, 22-20, while Mithun Manjunath comfortably beat France's Lucas Claerbout 21-14, 21-10. However, Subhankar Dey's run ended early after he fell to Ditlev Jaeger Holm in the opening round.

Meanwhile, an Indian female shuttler was forced to pull out of the Orleans Masters on Tuesday after a member of her support team tested positive for COVID-19.

The BWF officially announced that an Indonesian women's doubles pair withdrew on Monday following a positive PCR test. In total, three participants have had to leave the competition since the qualifiers began in Paris.

The official statement further clarified that a player from the Indian women's singles category also withdrew because a member of her team tested positive via PCR.

Because she was identified as a close contact of the infected person, the BWF advised the player to self-isolate in her hotel to prevent further spread. The governing body has kept the identities of the affected players private.

As a result of this withdrawal, Ira Sharma, who had entered the tournament as a reserve, was promoted into the main draw of the women's singles.
