Ending their tour on a high, the Indian women's hockey team displayed great energy to earn a 1-1 draw against world No. 2 Argentina. Captain Rani Rampal found the net for India in the 35th minute, while the hosts' Emilia Forcherio scored from a penalty stroke. This was the fourth match of the series, as rain had forced the abandonment of the third game on Saturday. Before this stretch, India had played the Argentine junior squad, drawing twice (2-2, 1-1), and faced Argentina's 'B' team, losing both games (1-2, 2-3).
Facing the senior Argentine national team, India lost their first two encounters 2-3 and 0-2. They entered the final game of the tour determined to walk away with a win. Despite this, the experienced Argentine side dominated the early stages, launching a well-coordinated attack from the very start of the first quarter.
Argentina's early aggression put the Indian defense on the back foot, resulting in two penalty corners within the first three minutes. However, Savita proved to be a wall in goal, producing exceptional saves to keep Argentina at bay. India had their own opportunity to break the deadlock in the 11th minute through a penalty corner, but they were unable to convert the chance.
Early in the second quarter, Rani almost scored after a clever assist from veteran forward Vandana Katariya. However, the Argentine defense remained resolute, tightening their formation inside the striking circle to prevent India from scoring.
Argentina managed to earn two more penalty corners in the 23rd and 24th minutes, but once again, Savita's brilliance denied them. Soon after, Captain Rani found her moment; she received a well-timed pass from Vandana on the right side of the goal.
Rani made the most of the opportunity, clinicaly striking the ball past the Argentine keeper to give India a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute. India had two further chances to extend their advantage in the 39th and 50th minutes, but both attempts missed the mark.
Argentina continued to push for an equalizer, and their persistence paid off in the 55th minute when a foul during a penalty corner resulted in a penalty stroke for the hosts. Emilia Forcherio stepped up and converted the set-piece to level the score.
