Indonesia Open 2026: An Seyoung wins her first Women's singles title

South Korea's An Seyoung captured the Women's singles title at the Indonesia Open after defeating second-seed Ratchanok Intanon 21-17, 22-20. The young Korean athlete delivered a standout performance to claim her first Super 1000 World Tour trophy, controlling the pace from the start to win in straight games. Having already triumphed at the Indonesia Masters, the 19-year-old has now become only the second South Korean woman to lift the Indonesia Open trophy, following in the footsteps of Lee Young Suk.

Despite the pressure, the world number six kept her nerves in check during the second set to overcome the Thai player. This victory is particularly emotional for Seyoung, as she defeated a player she had looked up to since childhood. Her approach was both strategic and steady, allowing her to secure the opening game efficiently. In the second set, she pushed a rapid pace and reached championship point at 20-14. Although Intanon mounted a spirited rally—scoring six consecutive points with powerful, accurate hits—it wasn't enough to stop the teenager's momentum.
Seyoung played the second game at a really fast pace. Holding championship point at 20-14, the Korean shuttler withstood one final challenge from Intanon. Intanon played on to match Seyoung’s speed with a good fight back. The Thai star scored six consecutive points with some accurate and powerful shots. But it was not enough to hold the teenager in the end.

Viktor Axelsen claimed the men's singles title after a hard-fought 21-12, 9-21, 21-13 win over Loh Kean Yew. The Olympic champion spent 59 minutes battling the Singaporean star to secure the trophy. Axelsen's path to victory came after his compatriot, Anders Antonsen, had to pull out of the tournament due to a chest injury. The match was pushed to a deciding third set after Loh Kean Yew dominated the second game.

The Danish player started strong, controlling the rhythm to comfortably take the first game. However, the 24-year-old Singaporean responded with impressive footwork and sharp cross-court shots to claim the second set, setting up a tight finale.

The Olympic champion maintained his edge in the final set, leading 11-6 at the interval. While Loh fought hard to close the gap, Axelsen's quick reflexes and superior net play proved decisive. With this win, the Danish star secured his second Super 1000 title of the year, adding to his Denmark Open victory from October.
