Rafael Nadal has confirmed he will be playing for Team Europe in the upcoming Laver Cup.

Former world number one Rafael Nadal is joining Team Europe for the seventh edition of the Laver Cup, held at Berlin's Uber Arena from September 20–22. Rafael Nadal, the former world number one, will join Team Europe later this year for the seventh edition of the Laver Cup, which will be hosted at Uber Arena in Berlin from September 20 to 22. The Spanish star Nadal will pair up with fellow Spaniard and World No.3 Carlos Alcaraz, World No.4 Daniil Medvedev, and World No.5 Alexander Zverev as Team Europe attempts to reclaim the Laver Cup under captain Bjorn Borg’s leadership.

Having recently returned to the ATP Tour at the Barcelona Open, the 22-time Grand Slam champion has suggested that 2024 could be his final season. Berlin will be the 37-year-old's fourth outing at the Laver Cup; he previously competed in Prague in 2017 and Geneva in 2019, and most memorably partnered with his longtime rival and friend, Roger Federer, for Federer's farewell match at London's O2 Arena in 2022.

Nadal shared his enthusiasm about returning to the Laver Cup in Berlin, noting that the tournament provides him with cherished memories, particularly the profound emotions he felt while playing alongside Roger for the final time in London two years ago.

Nadal emphasized that at this stage of his career, he wants to seize every single opportunity that comes his way. He mentioned that the unique, collaborative nature of the competition makes teaming up an exhilarating experience. He is now eager to head to Berlin and contribute to Team Europe's quest to win the cup back.

Captain Bjorn Borg expressed his delight at securing Nadal as one of his 'Captain's Picks' for his final year leading the six-man roster. Borg described Nadal as an absolute legend and a champion in every sense. He admitted that having Rafa on the team was a primary goal for his final year as captain, and he is thrilled that Nadal accepted the invitation to join them in Berlin.

Borg highlighted Nadal's passion for the Laver Cup and his status as one of the most formidable competitors in tennis history. He noted that with a roster featuring Rafa, Carlos, Daniil, and Sascha, Team Europe has an incredible lineup poised to win the title.
