Indian golfing star Aditi Ashok is a top contender for a podium spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Born in 1998, her passion for the sport ignited at age five while spending time at the Karnataka Golf Association's beautiful courses. Her early talent was evident by 13, when she claimed the national amateur title alongside victories in the South Indian and Karnataka Junior Championships. In 2016, she turned pro and broke new ground for India by winning the Ladies British Amateur Stroke Play and becoming the first Indian to earn a Ladies European Tour card through the Lalla Aicha Tour School.
Aditi Ashok, an Indian golfer, is a prominent candidate to earn a medal for her country at the Paris Olympics in 2024. Born in 1998, Aditi started playing at the age of five, captivated by the lush green course at the Karnataka Golf Association. Aditi’s early accomplishments included winning the Karnataka Junior and South Indian Junior Championships at the age of 13, as well as the national amateur title that same year. Aditi became professional in 2016 and won the Ladies British Amateur Stroke Play Championship, making her the youngest and first Indian to win the Lalla Aicha Tour School and earning her Ladies European Tour card.

Now 26, Aditi has secured victories at the Qatar Ladies Open and the Hero Women’s Indian Open, which earned her the Rookie of the Year award. A seasoned representative for India on the global stage, she also etched her name in history as the first Indian woman to take home a silver medal from the Asian Games.

Between the 2016 and 2021 Olympics, Aditi showed remarkable growth. She first made her mark at the Rio Games at just 18, becoming the youngest competitor in the field and finishing in a tie for 41st place—a promising debut. By the time the Tokyo Olympics arrived, her skill set and mental toughness had evolved significantly.

Even with a world ranking of 200th, she stunned the field by finishing fourth, missing a medal by a single stroke. This heroic effort earned her widespread respect across the sport. Her tenacity was on full display as she held her own against giants like Lydia Ko and Nelly Korda, despite the disadvantage of hitting the ball significantly shorter off the tee.

In June, Aditi officially secured her place for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Currently ranked 60th globally, she qualified by placing 24th in the Olympic Golf Rankings. This is a milestone moment for Indian sports, as she becomes the first Indian golfer to compete in three different Olympic Games.

Coming off a career-high performance at the Amundi Evian Championship, Aditi is currently playing some of the best golf of her life. She surged to a tie for 17th place thanks to a clutch run of three birdies in her final four holes, surpassing her previous best Major result (a tie for 22nd at the 2018 Women’s Open). With over 30 Majors under her belt, her commitment to refining her precision and strategic play has finally culminated in this peak form.
