The Indian cycling scene is experiencing a surge in momentum, with the junior squad leading the charge by securing a second-place global ranking in the 4000m event. This rise to prominence is the culmination of years of hard work and persistence from young cyclists striving for international recognition. Central to this success is the relentless drive of chief national coach VN Singh, who has been instrumental in fast-tracking the development of emerging talents into elite champions.

Based on the most recent UCI World rankings, Kazakhstan currently holds the top spot with 1283.75 points. India has impressively claimed the second position with 1230 points, edging out Japan, who hold third place with 1200 points. This strong performance by the junior team is largely attributed to the leadership of chief national coach VN Singh, who focused on both the mental fortitude and the physical preparation of the cyclists to achieve these results.

Last year, Esow Alben etched his name in the history books by winning India's first global medal in cycling. In a thrilling race, he finished just 0.017 seconds behind the gold medalist, Jakub Stastny from the Czech Republic. Esow's skill and potential were undeniable, and he eventually ascended to the rank of world No. 1 junior sprint cyclist following standout performances at the Asian Track Championships, the 2018 Cottbuser Sprint Cup 2, and the GP Brno Track Cycling event.
