Lewis Hamilton matches Michael Schumacher's all-time record by securing his 91st Formula 1 win

The six-time title holder clinched his 91st Grand Prix victory this Sunday at the Nurburgring. Following a two-week break, Hamilton bounced back from a difficult outing in Russia to deliver a masterclass in control. This race also signaled the return of the Nurburgring to the F1 calendar for the first time in seven years.
The six-time champion won his 91st Grand Prix race at the Nurburgring circuit on Sunday. Lewis Hamilton after a two-week break rested his Russian Grand Prix troubles behind him with a controlled win. Ever since 2013 this is the first time a Grand Prix event has been hosted at the Nurburgring circuit.

With his triumph at the Eifel Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton has now equaled the gold standard of 91 wins set by Michael Schumacher. The Nurburgring holds special significance as Schumacher's home track, where he previously claimed five wins. Beyond the record, this victory extends Hamilton's lead in the standings as he chases a record-breaking seventh world championship.

Despite starting the race from the front of the grid, Valtteri Bottas saw his day end in disappointment when his engine failed. It was the first time Bottas has failed to finish a race this season, severely damaging his chances of fighting for the title. This marks Hamilton's seventh win of the year, leaving him with a 69-point advantage over his Finnish teammate with six rounds remaining.

Max Verstappen secured second place for Red Bull, while Daniel Ricciardo claimed third for Renault. This marks Ricciardo's first podium since joining Renault; his previous podium success came back in 2018 while he was still with Red Bull. Additionally, Verstappen earned an extra point by clocking the fastest lap of the race.

In a touching moment, Mick Schumacher presented Hamilton with one of his father's iconic red helmets to honor the achievement. Mick, who is a strong contender for the Formula 2 title this year, is widely expected to make his F1 debut next season. He had been slated to participate in the first practice session with Alpha Romeo, but inclement weather forced the session's cancellation.

Before celebrating on the podium, Hamilton expressed his gratitude, noting how humbled he felt to match Schumacher's record at a circuit so closely tied to the German icon's roots.

Visibly emotional and nearly speechless, Hamilton admitted that reaching such a milestone was something he had never even dared to dream of, stating he never imagined he would one day be on the same level as Schumacher.
