Novak Djokovic has made history by becoming the first person to win all nine Masters 1,000 tournaments. He sealed this achievement in Cincinnati, where the 31-year-old Serbian defeated seven-time champion Roger Federer 6-4, 6-4, overcoming a past record of five second-place finishes at the event.

Having won Wimbledon, Djokovic was determined to break his streak of three consecutive losses to the Swiss legend in the Cincinnati finals.

Expressing his joy, Djokovic remarked that it was a truly special moment for him, as he had never before stood atop the podium in Cincinnati.

Had Federer won, it would have been his 99th career trophy and would have brought his rivalry record with Djokovic to a dead heat at 23-23.

With the US Open kicking off on August 27, Djokovic aims to maintain his peak form at Flushing Meadows, where he is already a two-time champion.

From the very start, Federer was on the defensive, barely escaping two break points just to hold his opening game.

Djokovic, ranked 10th in the world at the time, eventually found the opening he needed to break Federer's serve at 4-3, securing the first set.

The second set began differently, with Federer taking an aggressive 2-0 lead, but Djokovic showed his resilience by fighting back to level the score at 2-2.

After breaking again at 4-3, Djokovic converted his first championship point in a match lasting 84 minutes, officially completing the prestigious 'Golden Masters'.

Federer praised his opponent, stating, 'Congratulations to Novak for your incredible performance not just this week, but over your entire career; this is a magnificent achievement.'

He added that while it had been an intense and demanding week for all the players involved, there were plenty of positive moments.
