The squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, a key limited-overs domestic tournament, has been finalized, and the selectors have put Rahane in charge. Mumbai is competing in Elite Group A and is scheduled to play their opening 50-over match against Baroda on September 19.
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) confirmed that Shreyas Iyer, the hard-hitting batter who was omitted from the Asia Cup squad, will be the vice-captain. Rahane also missed out on the Asia Cup roster, where Rohit Sharma, another Mumbai standout, is leading the national side. The young opener Prithvi Shaw is also included in the squad. Mumbai's group stage path includes matchups against Baroda, Karnataka, Railways, Vidarbha, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, and Maharashtra.
