Rahul Dravid, the man known as 'The Wall' of Indian cricket, is set to guide the team through their Sri Lankan campaign. This appointment is strategic, as the main coaching staff, including Vikram Rathour, Bharat Arun, and Ravi Shastri, will be occupied with the Test team in England.
The Great Wall of India, Rahul Dravid, is going to coach Team India during the Sri Lanka tour. Dravid is known as ‘The Wall’ of India. In advance of the selection of the final Lanka Team, we learned that three of the team’s coaches would be in England with the Test squad. Ravi Shastri, Bharat Arun and Vikram Rathour.
A spokesperson for the BCCI has confirmed that Rahul Dravid will be stepping in as the head coach for the series in Sri Lanka.
According to the BCCI, having Dravid lead the side is the best move because he is already well-acquainted with most of the India 'A' players; his extensive experience will be invaluable for the development of these young athletes while the regular staff remains in the UK.
Currently leading the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Dravid also has prior experience in English conditions, having served as the team's batting consultant back in 2014.
Before taking over as the chairman of the NCA in 2019, Dravid spent significant time mentoring the current generation of young players through the Under-19 and India 'A' setups.
Renowned for his unwavering reliability at the crease, Dravid is seen as a master problem-solver and a steady hand in high-pressure situations, which is expected to give India a significant edge in Sri Lanka.
