Ex-India stars voice their disapproval of KL Rahul's captaincy and batting after RCB secures the Eliminator win

Reacting to the match, former India coach Ravi Shastri argued that KL Rahul was too cautious. He believe the LSG skipper missed a golden opportunity to ramp up the run rate between the 9th and 14th overs during his stand with Deepak Hooda.
Former India cricketer Ravi Shastri reacted to LSG skipper KL Rahul’s knock and stated the LSG captain should have gone after the bowling a bit earlier. Former India head coach Shastri expressed that Rahul should have taken more risks between the 9th and 14th over when he was having a good partnership with Deepak Hooda.

The contrast in efficiency was clear: KL Rahul used more balls than Rajat Patidar but scored significantly less—a difference of 33 runs. In the context of a T20 eliminator, this disparity in scoring speed is critical, and it ultimately led to LSG's defeat.

Shastri suggested that Rahul should have been more aggressive against the bowling attack earlier, especially knowing Harshal Patel would be a threat in the final overs. He argued that bringing the required run rate down sooner would have rattled the RCB bowlers and could have changed the final outcome.

Dodda Ganesh, a former Indian fast bowler, admitted he couldn't make sense of how Rahul approached the middle overs. Taking to Twitter, Ganesh claimed that the difference between Patidar's aggression and Rahul's passivity decided the match. He criticized Rahul for settling for singles and doubles instead of hitting boundaries, noting that despite his immense talent, Rahul failed to deliver the finishing blow.
