COVID-19 positive result confirmed for Harmanpreet Kaur

India's T20I women's captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, has tested positive for the coronavirus. After feeling unwell and running a fever for roughly four days, she underwent testing on Monday, which confirmed the infection.
Indian women’s T20I team captain Harmanpreet Kaur has tested positive for the coronavirus. This news comes after reports of her experiencing mild symptoms for the virus. It was earlier reported that the Punjab-born cricketer was suffering from fever for about 4 days and upon testing the results returned positive on Monday.

Following medical guidance, Kaur is currently staying at home in self-isolation to recover.

A hip-flexor injury sustained during the fifth ODI kept Kaur out of the national squad for the subsequent T20I series against South Africa held in India.

With Kaur unavailable, Smriti Mandhana took the helm, but India fell 2-1 in the T20I series. Previously, Mithali Raj led the team to a 4-1 defeat in the ODIs. On a personal note, Kaur had a strong showing in the ODI leg, averaging 53.33 with 160 total runs, including a notable 54 in the fourth game.

Harmanpreet is the second major figure in the Indian women's game to contract the virus, after Mansi Joshi tested positive last October. That illness forced Joshi to miss the Women’s T20 Challenge in the UAE, where she plays for Mithali Raj's Velocity team.

Additionally, several retired Indian players who participated in the recent Road Safety Series have also tested positive, including legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Yusuf Pathan, S Badrinath, and Irfan Pathan.
