In a discussion with The Telegraph, New Zealand's former captain Glenn Turner named Kane Williamson as the superior batsman when it comes to surviving and thriving on difficult pitches, citing Williamson's extensive experience in tough conditions.
Former captain of New Zealand Glenn Turner chose Kane Williamson over Virat Kohli as the best suitable batsman for tougher batting conditions. In a recent chat with The Telegraph Turner was asked to choose between Williamson and Kohli, for which he picked Kiwis skipper as a better batsman for tough batting tracks because of Williamson’s experience in playing on such pitches and conditions during his career.
Turner noted that Kohli's aggressive approach makes him nearly unstoppable on high-scoring tracks. He explained that while both players are formidable, their divergence stems from their training grounds; Williamson is well-versed in handling seaming wickets, a challenge Kohli hasn't encountered as frequently.
While Turner views Kohli as the more competitive and aggressive of the two, he emphasized that both possess an unwavering drive for success. Meanwhile, former Indian coach Gary Kirsten recently lauded Kohli for how he has reshaped his game over the years. As captains of their respective countries, both are icons of the sport, with Kohli having already amassed 70 international hundreds.
