Following injuries to Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, and Avesh Khan, the All-India Senior Selection Committee has drafted Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav into the Test squad as replacements.
The All-India Senior Selection Committee has called up Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav as replacements for the Indian test team. The trio of Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, and Avesh Khan have been ruled out due to injuries.
Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav are flying out to join India's five-match Test series in England. Both players arrive in excellent form, having dominated with the bat in the ongoing series against Sri Lanka.
Injury woes have hit the camp, with opener Shubman Gill forced to return to India due to a lower left leg injury. Similarly, Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar were sidelined after picking up knocks during a warm-up fixture.
Washington Sundar's bowling finger was badly injured after a hard blow to his right hand, and specialists warn that he won't be fit to bowl for some time. Avesh Khan's situation is equally serious, as an X-ray confirmed a fracture in his left thumb.
Rishabh Pant is officially back in the mix for the Test series after recovering from COVID-19 and testing negative. With the BCCI medical team's approval, he has started training again. Meanwhile, Wriddhiman Saha has ended his self-isolation and linked up with the team in Durham. The first of the five Tests kicks off on August 4th at Nottingham's Trent Bridge.
