The legendary Sachin Tendulkar offered his congratulations to Suryakumar Yadav, Rahul Tewatia, and Ishan Kishan on their debut India selections. The announcement was made by the BCCI this Saturday as part of the 19-man squad for the T20I series kicking off in March 2021.
Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar congratulated Suryakumar Yadav, Rahul Tewatia and Ishan Kishan on receiving their maiden India call-up. BCCI on Saturday announced its 19-man squad for the upcoming 5-match T20I series which will commence in March 2021.
Tendulkar also remembered Varun Chakravarthy, wishing him well after a shoulder injury forced him to miss the previous T20I tour of Australia despite being selected.
The trio of Tewatia, Yadav, and Kishan earned their spots thanks to an impressive showing in the most recent IPL season.
Following their national team selection, both Suryakumar and Tewatia have been in絶絶 form, delivering explosive performances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Representing Haryana against Chandigarh, Rahul Tewatia blasted 73 runs from 39 balls, propelling his team to a total of 299/9. He reached fifty in 32 balls and showed incredible aggression by scoring 22 runs in the final six balls of his innings.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav helped Mumbai secure a win over Delhi by smashing a half-century. His 50-run knock came off just 33 balls and featured two sixes and six boundaries.
Several prominent players, such as Mayank Agarwal, Sanju Samson, Ravindra Jadeja, and Manish Pandey, were surprisingly left out of the squad, though Rishabh Pant remains a key part of the limited-overs setup. Additionally, Buvneshwar Kumar returns to the T20 side, replacing Jasprit Bumrah after recovering from a thigh injury that kept him out of much of the IPL.
