A masterclass performance from Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube led Chennai Super Kings to a landslide win against Kolkata Knight Riders

On Sunday, the Chennai Super Kings completely outclassed the Kolkata Knight Riders, winning by 49 runs and climbing to the top of the standings with 10 points. While Jason Roy tried to keep KKR's hopes alive with a rapid-fire 61 from 26 balls, the daunting chase of 236 proved too much as the other batsmen failed to deliver when the game was on the line.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) produced a dominating performance to thrash Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 49 runs on Sunday. With a comprehensive win, CSK moved to the top of the table with 10 points to their credit. Chasing a very big 236, Jason Roy played an electrifying knock of 26-balls 61 to keep KKR in the hunt but other batters failed to fire when it mattered the most.

Starting their innings first, CSK hit the ground running. Ruturaj Gaikwad (35) and Devon Conway shared a rapid 73-run partnership in the first 7 overs before Gaikwad was bowled by Suyash Sharma. Conway continued his hot streak with a brilliant 56, his fourth consecutive fifty this year, while Ajinkya Rahane stepped up with a highly aggressive approach.

Rahane was in exceptional touch, playing elegant shots at an incredible strike rate of 244.83. At the other end, Shivam Dube was equally destructive, smashing a 50 that ranks as the joint-third fastest of the season. The duo dismantled the bowling, putting on 85 runs in a mere 31 deliveries. A handy 18 from Ravindra Jadeja and Rahane's explosive 71* off 29 balls propelled CSK to a massive 235/4, the highest ever recorded at Eden Gardens.

KKR's pursuit of the target stumbled early when openers Sunil Narine (0) and Narayan Jagadeesan (1) were dismissed almost immediately. The collapse deepened as Moeen Ali and Jadeja removed Venkatesh Iyer (20) and Nitish Rana (27) in short order. However, a 65-run partnership between Jason Roy and Rinku Singh briefly brought KKR back into the contest.

The momentum shifted back to CSK in the 15th over when Maheesh Theekshana delivered a pinpoint yorker to dismiss the dangerous Roy. Although Rinku Singh fought valiantly, scoring an unbeaten 53, he lacked the support needed to pull off an improbable victory.
