The CEO of Chennai Super Kings, Kasi Viswanathan, has addressed the rumors regarding MS Dhoni's future. He confirmed that fans can expect their captain to be part of the team for the upcoming 2021 and 2022 IPL seasons, debunking recent claims that the franchise planned to let him go after the 2020 tournament.
After his appearance in the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand, Dhoni took a break from competitive cricket. Because of this, the 2020 IPL is being viewed as a major comeback for the iconic wicket-keeper. His return to practice at Chepauk stadium in March drew massive crowds of eager fans. Earlier in the year, CSK owner N Srinivasan had already signaled the team's commitment to Dhoni, stating he would be retained for the 2021 season.
Viswanathan noted that he has been following reports of Dhoni's indoor training in Jharkhand. He spoke candidly, telling fans not to stress about the captain's status, as the team management is completely confident in him. According to Viswanathan, everyone involved trusts that Dhoni is fully aware of his responsibilities and is managing his preparation and team dynamics effectively.
