The BCCI has approved Captain Virat Kohli’s paternity leave.
Board Secretary Jai Shah also provided an update on Rohit Sharma's health, noting that the BCCI's medical staff is currently monitoring him. To make sure he is fully recovered and fit, the board decided, in consultation with Rohit, to leave him out of the T20 and ODI series. Consequently, Rohit will only feature in the last three Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
The Test squad will see the inclusion of Ishant Sharma, but Varun Chakraborty has been left out due to an undisclosed shoulder injury. Additionally, Sanju Samson's role has been expanded; originally only in the T20 squad, he will now also serve as an extra wicketkeeper for the ODIs.
The opening Test match is scheduled for December 17-21 at the Adelaide Oval. Overall, India's tour of Australia spans from December 6 to January 19, consisting of three ODIs, three T20s, and a four-match Test series.
