Using the 'Helo' social networking app, ex-Pakistan bowler and commentator Shoaib Akhtar expressed his desire to work with the Indian cricket team. He suggested that his deep expertise in fast bowling could be an asset, as he is eager to share the specific methods and insights he gathered throughout his professional career.
Despite Bharat Arun being the current bowling coach for India, Akhtar is confident he could help the bowlers increase their aggression and speed to dominate batsmen more effectively. He also mentioned a special interest in coaching the Kolkata Knight Riders, a team he once played for in the IPL. By sharing his knowledge, Akhtar hopes to mold young talent into world-class athletes. During the conversation, he looked back at the 1998 series against India, recalling his initial interactions with the iconic Sachin Tendulkar.
Akhtar recalled that when he first met Sachin Tendulkar during the 1998 series, he wasn't initially aware of the batsman's massive status. It was only after spending time in Chennai that he realized Tendulkar is revered as a 'God' of cricket in India. Akhtar highlighted that he and Tendulkar have since become good friends and noted that his own bowling style has earned him a loyal following among Indian fans.
